Cutting through thin materials like paper, vinyl requires only top of the blade. Using double segments blade may be much more economical thanks to 15 segments against 8 in standard LB blade.
Intented use of solid blades
Cutting through thick material like insulation or foam board requires full exposed blade. Using snap-off blade may be dangerous because is very easy to brake a blade while cutting. Solid blades protect users from such situation.
