"Threads know no borders" – jubilee exhibition

On Saturday, May 14 this year, at the Filip Girard Linen Museum in Żyrardów, on the occasion of the Night of Museums 2022, the exhibition "Threads know no borders" was opened.

It is the second and so far the largest international exhibition in the history of the Polish Patchwork Association. Beautiful, industrial interiors of the old factory once again became the background for the collection of artquilts. This time, the exhibition presents 114 works, including 113 patchworks created by members of individual national guilds and one joint work, which includes, among others, logos of individual national organizations.
The idea of inviting this unique collection to Poland came from Magdalena Galińska, who is the curator of the exhibition.

The initiative of sewing works under the slogan "Threads know no borders" was born in 2019 to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of EQA. It was attended by 19 countries - then members of this transnational patchwork organization: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary, Great Britain and Italy.

The authors of the patchworks sent from Poland are: Magdalena Gąsowska, Sylwia Ignatowska, Ewa Pasińska, Mirosława Pucek, Anna Sławińska and Dorota Włodarczak.
