Festival of Quilts with Polish accents

The Festival of Quilts in Birmingham is a regular event arranged by the European Quilt Association (EQA), which has been bringing together patchwork enthusiasts for numerous years. At the festival, artworks from artists worldwide are showcased and granted awards, making us proud to receive honours from Polish artists.

This year's festival was graced by Mrs. Anna Zychora-Duda's debut, who secured second place in the Sustainable Quilts category with her masterpiece "Pancreator from Sinai". The artwork showcases the method of "ecoprinting", which involves utilizing leftover fabrics from upholstery, clothing, or dyeing processes. Notably, even pieces of leather from a 19th-century chair's upholstery were repurposed to create the character's hair.

The work "My friend Tom" by Mrs. Danuta Owczarek also received a distinction, alongside the works of other Polish artists and members of the Polish Patchwork Association, which were featured in the "Flower Power" exhibition.

This exhibition will be on display in different cities across Europe, and the works can be viewed on the organiser's website: https://www.thefestivalofquilts.co.uk/european-quilt-association/.
